ANNA WIMAN TRANSLATION & COMMUNICATION
Translation, transcreation, proofreading and quality assurance from German and English to Swedish.
Let me convey your message and reach your Swedish audience.
I was born in Geldern, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany, to Swedish parents. I was bilingual before starting pre-school. My intercultual background has helped me tremendously in my understanding of first and foremost the German language and most importantly, the ability to adapt it to native Swedish.
I spent my entire childhood with my nose in a book and was raised in a language-loving, freelance translator home. My parents have been in the business for over 20 years and we travelled a lot – I had visited 30 countries in Europe and overseas by the age of 23. Despite being surrounded by terminology discussions at the breakfast table as a kid, I decided to study media, communication and public relations at Linneaus University in Växjö and then do a little bit of everything in my early 20s:
I travelled Europe as a freelance journalist, worked as a public relations assistant and took random university courses and training programmes just for fun in foreign correspondence, leadership and development theory, photography and movie production, foreign policy etc. I’ve also worked with tourism in my hometown and as a substitute teacher.
I started my translation company, Anna Wiman Translation & Communication (AWTRANSCOM) in early 2013 and I’ve enjoyed working full-time on a freelance basis since then, translating content for a number of major and sometimes global companies. I also carry out work for smaller businesses trying to break into the Swedish market. AWTRANSCOM has liability insurance with Moderna försäkringar in a specially developed insurance package for the translation industry.
I’ve built a small and stable network of freelance colleagues over the years. Sometimes we work together to meet the needs of our clients. In reality, that often means forming a team where one translates and the other proofreads/does quality assurance. You can choose if you want us to invoice together or separately.
It is time consuming to search the market for freelancers and contacting a translation agency is not always the best solution for your project. Direct contact with the linguist working on your material can be a great asset. Don’t hesitate to contact me if you are looking for a team solution for your project!
