-> Participant in the “Leadership and Development Programme”.

Austria and Slovakia. 27 august 2011 – 7 September 2011.

Among hundreds of other applicants, I was chosen to participate in this programme, with the aim to improve the knowledge about the European Union in Western Balkan countries through developing strong leadership skills and professional behavour among the individual participants. Group discussions, lectures and seminars were part of the programme.

-> Information officer and guide at VIDA Paper AB Handpappersbruk.

Lessebo, Sweden. June 2011 – August 2011.

The privately owned VIDA group mainly focuses on modern forest industry, but in Lessebo, Sweden, there is an old paper mill still in use. My main responsibility was to show tourists from all over the world this traditional method of producing paper in German but also in Swedish and English from time to time. Furthermore, I had the main responsibility for stock and cashier. The old paper mill is not only a working place for employees, but also a museum and a shop, which is why professional behaviour and a service-minded attitude was an absolute must despite all other circumstances.

Column topics have included young interest in music, Kosovar diaspora, children’s education in Kosovo, promoting youth culture etc. More info at www.annawiman.com/young-kosovo-behind-the-scenes/ or visit www.newkosovareport.com/Anna-Wiman/.

-> Participant in Transitions Online Foreign Correspondence Course.
Prague, Czech Republic. January 3rd – January 12th 2010.

I participated in TOL’s (www.tol.org) international reporting course with training sessions in learning how to be a foreign correspondent. Michael Jordan, Bratislava Correspondent for the Christian Science Monitor, The Economist’s Brussels correspondent David Rennie, war correspondent Aernout van Lynden  with over 20 years experience in print and television as well as photo journalist Dean Cox, whose work has appeared in the New York Times, were a few of the instructors. Under their guidance, from scratch to final product, I wrote my own article from Prague about how a new law on human trafficking prevention affected the work of social workers, gathering information from and interviewing both governmental and non-governmental institutions as well as going undercover.

->Public Relations intern within a NATO Advisory Team.
Prishtina, Kosovo. June 10th – September 8th 2009.

I helped the NATO PR Advisor and Kosovar Director of MKSF Public Relations Department to organize various press events such as press conferences as well as carrying out the daily media. Some of my own tasks included distributing relevant media clips to the NATO colleagues, creating two event matrixes for 2009/2010, one focusing on the security force training conducted by the NATO peacekeeping force in Kosovo and the other focusing on events important for Ministry PR, as well as hosting an international press tour the US Mission to NATO in Brussels made to Kosovo.
